Relaxing In Rotterdam

In the morning we had an included breakfast and dressed up extra warm to go and explore Rotterdam. After all the hot weather of the trip the grey skies, cold wind and light drizzle was a bit of a relief. We spend the day shopping and exploring the city. There was a lot of strange sculptures - giant gnomes, bronze dogs (with a bronze poo beside him!) and a mosaic throne!

I bought a cheap top and a dress from a 7 euro bargain store, but what I really loved and couldn't buy were the incredible bouquets of vegetables and flowers from a local florist! It is the second time we have seen vegies used as art and gifts - in Venice bouquets of chillis were wrapped up like roses and sold by the bunch as gifts! I love the use of non traditional elements in floral arrangements, like the sticks and orange berries I had in my wedding bouquet. These were just so cool.

We stopped shopping to have a gorgeous sushi lunch! It was different to our usual grab a plate sushi train. Much more elegant and we took our time with the feast of colourful fishy food.

To avoid the heavy foods and try to back pedal the tightening of our clothes (we have definitely 'grown' - out!) we decided to buy some soup and salad for dinner and have it in the room. It was nice to spend some time in really lovely accommodation.
